What Dispatch Heard in September

Pedestrian, cyclist, and scooter strikes — vulnerable road users (VRUs) — plus crashes on corridors of interest (currently Braddock Road and Mount Vernon Avenue) on Alexandria’s public dispatch audio in September 2026. A woman out running was struck by a silver sedan at Duke Street and South Alfred Street (Old Town) during the morning rush. Dispatch relayed that the vehicle “struck her pretty hard”; she was conscious and alert, the driver remained on scene, and the responding medic unit later reported a patient refusal, so she was likely not transported. An 11-year-old boy was struck by a Kia at 1000 North Pegram Street at Taney Avenue (West End, just after school hours). The driver stayed on scene and the child’s mother was en route; the call reached 911 roughly twenty minutes after it happened.
